Citadel Sciences and Kaiterra have announced a multi-year partnership to bring commercial-grade clean air technology and intelligence to K-12 school districts across the United States.
The partnership pairs Kaiterra's indoor environmental quality monitors and Data Platform with Citadel's strategy, analysis, and systems integration work for school districts. Both teams are at Greenbuild 2026 in New York City this week to kick it off.
The announcement was issued by Citadel Sciences on October 20th, 2026. Read the full press release here.
Commercial and residential real estate have spent years investing in the sensors, standards, and certifications that define a healthy building. Schools have not kept pace, even though children spend more than 15,000 hours inside them between kindergarten and graduation.
This partnership is built to close that gap, giving school leaders, teachers, and students the same caliber of environmental intelligence used to protect some of the highest-performing commercial buildings in the world.
We've spent a decade working with the world's largest organizations to create healthy buildings and workplaces. We've seen over and over again how continuous air quality and environmental data bring measurable ROI, drive real improvement in the built environment, and create a better experience for the people inside. There's no reason schools should be the exception.
Liam Bates, Co-Founder and CEO, Kaiterra
No two schools face the same problems. A school near farmland, a school near a refinery, and a school with an aging HVAC system each need a different response. The partnership is designed around that reality rather than a single template.
Kaiterra's wireless Sensedge Go and cloud Data Platform give districts a room-by-room picture of indoor environmental quality, tracking up to 17 parameters including CO2, particulate matter, volatile organic compounds and other pollutant gases, along with temperature, humidity, light, sound, and occupancy. A single battery-powered monitor runs for up to eight years, which matters for under-resourced districts deciding where to spend.
Citadel layers its own data analysis and systems integration expertise on top, translating readings into prioritized, board-ready analysis: what is happening inside and outside the school environment, which schools need intervention first, and how conditions are trending over time.
The partnership follows the recent Healthy Schools for Healthy Kids Summit, where the Healthy Schools Network, the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), and other national organizations aligned on a shared agenda for healthier school environments.
Kaiterra's monitors and data platform are used worldwide to measure and improve indoor environmental quality and to support compliance with the WELL Building Standard. This partnership brings that same standard of evidence and accountability into K-12 facilities.
Every child deserves a school that protects their health, supports their learning and opens doors to opportunity. Investing in healthier schools is investing in children and their futures.

Greenbuild 2026 runs October 20 to 23 at the Javits Center in New York City. Citadel and Kaiterra representatives are at the Kaiterra booth throughout the show to meet with district leaders and answer questions about the partnership. Citadel and Kaiterra are already rolling out the joint offering to districts across the U.S.
